Sessions Homes by The Sessions Company

Now planning our first homes in San Diego

Two homes. One family. Same address.

We're designing homes where grandparents, parents and kids live side by side, each with their own front door, a shared yard between them, and a one-story home for the grandparents.

Close enough to be family every day. Far enough apart to keep your own life.

Parents in their seventies are living longer than any generation before them, often in houses built for a family that moved out decades ago. Their kids are raising children of their own and can't afford to live nearby.

We've lived the alternative ourselves: our parents and grandparents a few steps away, the grandkids in and out of both kitchens. It works when the homes are designed for it. Most homes aren't.

Sessions Homes are. Two complete homes on one property, in neighborhoods chosen for good schools and good hospitals, because that's what both ends of the family need.

What makes it a Sessions home

  • Two real homesSeparate front doors, separate kitchens, separate utilities, and walls built so nobody hears anybody's TV.
  • The grandparents' home is always one storyNo stairs, ever. No-step entries, wide doorways, and bathrooms ready for grab bars before anyone needs them.
  • Accessible throughoutBoth homes are designed to work for a wheelchair or a walker, not adapted later.
  • One shared yardThe space between the two front doors is where the family actually happens.
  • Locations chosen for both ends of lifeGood schools for the kids, good hospitals for the parents, close to both.

Two generations, one stronger purchase

Many families have the means to live well. It's just split across two households. Parents often have equity in a house that's bigger than they need. Their kids have income, but buying near good schools is out of reach on their own.

Planned together, a family can do what neither generation could alone: live in the neighborhood they want, with help next door. We'll design the homes around that kind of family plan. The plan itself stays yours, made with your own advisors.

If you're thinking about the family home

Some parents would rather sell than build. If we ever buy a family home, two rules apply every time.

The legal work is never ours

Estate and legal advice comes from your family's own independent attorney, not from us.

The kids are in the room

No parent signs anything alone. Adult children are part of the conversation from the start.

Tell us about your family

We're designing the first Sessions homes now, and we'd like to design them around real families. Tell us a little about yours. It takes about two minutes, and there's no commitment.

Which describes you?
What are you picturing?

We'll only use this to learn what families need and to tell you about our plans. We won't sell or share it.
